Massacres of civilians during World War II
Kriva Reka Massacre in Serbia: 330 Killed by SS Division Prinz Eugen
14m
In October 1942, the notorious 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen carried out one of the most brutal atrocities in occupied Yugoslavia. During Operation Kopaonik, SS troops entered the Serbian village of Kriva Reka, where hundreds of civilians were murdered, homes destroyed, and villagers burned alive inside the local church.
This documentary examines the massacre, the wider campaign of terror in occupied Serbia, and the commanders behind it, including Artur Phleps, August Schmidhuber, and Richard Kaaserer. It also explores how several of those responsible later met justice after the war.
A true story of occupation, resistance, war crimes, and final reckoning in the Balkans during World War II.
