The Nazi Doctor Who Experimented on the Living: Fritz Fischer
Nazi Doctors and their Inhuman Experiments

At the Ravensbrück concentration camp, SS doctor Fritz Fischer took part in some of the most horrifying medical experiments of the Nazi regime. Under the supervision of Karl Gebhardt and on orders from Heinrich Himmler, Fischer infected, mutilated, and amputated the limbs of Polish women — the so-called “Rabbits” — to test battlefield treatments and prove pseudo-scientific theories. Many victims died in agony; others were left crippled for life.
In 1947, Fischer stood trial before the Nuremberg Doctors’ Tribunal in Lüneburg, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In court, he admitted remorse and claimed he had simply followed orders. The verdict was clear — Fritz Fischer was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the Nazi medical crimes.
