Rosalie Roozendaal was a young Dutch Jewish woman who went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. In 1943, at just 19 years old, she was discovered by a Dutch police detective involved in hunting Jews for the German authorities. Threatened with deportation alongside her mother, she agreed to become an informant.
Working alongside the notorious Ans van Dijk, Roozendaal gained the trust of Jews in hiding and helped betray them to the authorities. However, in January 1944, she escaped her handlers, confessed her actions and later assisted the Dutch resistance.
After the war, Roozendaal faced trial for her involvement in the betrayal of more than 10 Jews. In September 1947, she was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Discover the disturbing story of Rosalie Roozendaal, a Jewish woman whose wartime experiences involved coercion, betrayal, resistance and a final reckoning with justice.
