Hans Krebs was one of the most influential Sudeten German Nazis and a lifelong opponent of Czechoslovakia. Born in Moravia in 1888, he rose from nationalist politics to become a leading advocate of Adolf Hitler's cause among the Germans of Czechoslovakia.
After helping undermine the republic and supporting its destruction in 1939, Krebs was rewarded with power as Gauleiter of the Sudetenland and an SS-Brigadeführer. From this position, he helped enforce Nazi rule, suppress opposition, and support the regime's anti-Jewish policies until the collapse of the Third Reich.
