The Serbian Volunteer Corps was a Serbian collaborationist military formation that fought alongside Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Established in 1941 under German occupation, it was closely associated with ZBOR, a fascist political movement led by Dimitrije Ljotić.
Commanded by Kosta Mušicki, the Serbian Volunteer Corps participated in operations against Yugoslav Partisans and assisted German occupation authorities in persecuting civilians and tracking down Jews who had escaped capture. By 1944, the formation had expanded to nearly 10,000 personnel.
As Nazi Germany collapsed in 1945, members of the Serbian Volunteer Corps retreated toward Italy and Austria, hoping to surrender to British forces rather than face Josip Broz Tito's Partisans. However, thousands were subsequently returned to Yugoslavia, where many were executed without trial.
Discover the history of the Serbian Volunteer Corps, its connection to ZBOR, its collaboration with Nazi Germany, and the fate of its commanders and members following the end of the Second World War.
