25,000 Jews Murdered in Latvia: The Rumbula Tragedy (1941)
17m
In November and December 1941, approximately 25,000 Jews were murdered in the Rumbula Forest near Riga, Latvia, in one of the largest mass killings of the Holocaust.
Organized by SS General Friedrich Jeckeln, the operation took place on 30 November and 8 December 1941. Thousands of Jewish men, women, and children were forced from the Riga Ghetto and taken to Rumbula, where they were murdered by Nazi forces and Latvian collaborators.
This documentary explores the events at Rumbula, the roles of Friedrich Jeckeln, Rudolf Lange, and the Arajs Kommando, the accounts of survivors, and the fate of those responsible after the Second World War.
