Karl Otto Koch was a Nazi SS officer and commandant of Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, and Majdanek concentration camps. During his years in power, he became notorious for his cruelty, corruption, and exploitation of prisoners.
Alongside his wife, Ilse Koch, later known as the Witch of Buchenwald, he accumulated considerable wealth through the theft of prisoners' property and the misuse of camp resources. His luxurious lifestyle, financial misconduct, and involvement in the murders of prisoners who knew his secrets eventually attracted the attention of SS investigators.
This documentary explores Karl Otto Koch's rise within the Nazi concentration camp system, his crimes at Buchenwald, the investigation led by SS judge Georg Konrad Morgen, and the circumstances that ultimately brought him before an SS court in Nazi Germany, where he would eventually pay for his crimes with his own life.
