When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, many White Russian émigrés saw Hitler's war as a chance to destroy the Bolshevik regime they had fought during the Russian Civil War. Among the most determined was former Cossack general Andrei Shkuro, who chose to collaborate with the Third Reich and helped organize Cossack formations under German command.

This documentary follows Shkuro's journey from a decorated Imperial Russian cavalry officer and White Army commander to one of Nazi Germany's most prominent Cossack collaborators. It examines his role in organizing anti-Soviet Cossack units, their deployment in Yugoslavia, and the atrocities committed against civilians, including killings, rapes, looting, and the destruction of entire villages. It also traces his capture by British forces, forced repatriation to the Soviet Union after the Yalta Conference, and execution in Moscow in 1947.
