In the summer of 1943, German troops of the 1st Mountain Division “Edelweiss” descended on the Greek village of Mousiotitsa in Epirus. During two attacks, soldiers looted and burned homes and murdered 153 villagers, including 63 children. The massacre was part of a wider campaign of brutal reprisals against civilians accused of supporting Greek resistance fighters.

This documentary follows the Mousiotitsa Massacre, the role of commanders Josef Salminger and Walter Stettner von Grabenhofen, and Willibald Röser—the feared “Nero of 12/98”—whose company participated in the killings. It also traces the later fate of the men responsible for one of the Wehrmacht’s most brutal atrocities in occupied Greece.
