Male Fascist Guards and Camp Auxiliaries
Nazi Guard Who Received Bonuses for Hanging Prisoners: Hans Möser
13m
Hans Möser was one of the most brutal Nazi guards at Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp, where prisoners were exploited as slave labor for the production of V-1 flying bombs and V-2 rockets.
After serving at Hinzert and Auschwitz-Monowitz, Möser became one of the most powerful SS officials at Mittelbau-Dora. He participated in hangings and received so-called “hanging bonuses” consisting of schnapps, sausage, and cigarettes. He was also accused of brutal beatings, shootings, and deliberately prolonging the suffering of condemned prisoners.
After the war, Möser faced justice at the Dora Trial. In 1947, an American military tribunal convicted him of war crimes and sentenced him to death.
