Female Fascist Guards and Camp Auxiliaries
Stutthof Guard Who Sent Children to the Gas Chamber: Elisabeth Becker
13m
Elisabeth Becker was just 21 when she became a female guard at the Stutthof concentration camp in September 1944. Indoctrinated with Nazi ideology from her youth, she became known for brutally abusing prisoners, beating women with her hands and a whip, and participating in selections that sent women and children to the gas chamber.
As Nazi Germany collapsed, Becker left Stutthof and returned home, but she was arrested in April 1945. The following year, she stood trial alongside other members of the Stutthof camp personnel. Despite appeals for clemency, Becker was sentenced to death for her involvement in selections and the brutal treatment of prisoners.
This documentary follows Elisabeth Becker’s path from the League of German Girls to Stutthof, the crimes committed within the camp system, her post-war trial, and her final reckoning in Poland.
