Hermannus Reydon was a leading Dutch collaborator who helped Nazi Germany tighten control over the Netherlands during World War II. A senior member of the NSB, he became a propaganda chief who spread National Socialist ideology, silenced opposition, and promoted Hitler’s rule.

After the German invasion in 1940, Reydon was appointed Secretary-General of Public Information and the Arts, overseeing media, culture, and political messaging. As Dutch Jews were deported through Westerbork transit camp to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sobibor extermination camp, Reydon helped create the climate of collaboration and persecution.

In February 1943, Dutch resistance members attacked Reydon in his home. He later died of his wounds, and the Nazis answered with brutal reprisals.
